Edgar Moreau cello
David Kadouch piano
Franck – Sonata in la maggiore op. 42
Poulenc – Sonata per violoncello e pianoforte FP 143
Mendelssohn – Sonata n. 2 in re maggiore op. 58
The French cellist Edgar Moreau isn’t yet 25 years old, but he is already a veteran. Trained in his native Paris and then by the finest cellists of our time, he has successfully participated in the Tchaikovsky and Rostropovich international competitions. His career is now in full swing, and he has performed with conductors of the calibre of Gergiev and Dudamel, chamber musicians such as Kremer and the Talich Quartet, and pianists of the level of Schiff and Angelich.
He can always arouse audiences’ enthusiasm with a magnificent example of virtuosity applied to short, functional pieces, but for our season he appears performing three major works.
