Emanuel Ax is truly a many-sided artist. The Ukrainian-born American pianist’s name is indissolubly bound together with the names of musicians of the calibre of Isaac Stern, Yo-Yo Ma, Jaime Laredo and Richard Stoltzman, with whom he has collaborated. But his strong presence in the world of chamber music is only one of many aspects of his exceptional career. He teaches at New York’s Juilliard School, enlivens festivals and other initiatives and continues to contribute a great deal to the development of contemporary repertoire.
The recital programme with which he returns to our Society bears witness to the vastness and variety of his repertoire, and this time it is made up of short musical forms.
