Artemis Quartet

Mendelssohn – Quartet no. 3 in D Major, op. 44 no. 1
Shostakovich – Quartet no. 5 in B-flat Major, op. 92
Mozart – Quartet no. 19 in C Major, K 465, “Dissonant”

Formed in 1989 by four students at Lübeck’s Musikhochschule, the Artemis Quartet studied with the famous LaSalle, Alban Berg, Emerson and Juilliard quartets. It has won important prizes, including first prize at Reggio Emilia’s Paolo Borciani competition, which led to its first appearance with our Society, in 1998. The ensemble’s strong point lies in the classical repertoire, but it ventures all the way through the 20th century.
