TUESDAY 10 APRIL 2018, 8.30 p.m. – Conservatorio “G. Verdi”
Haydn – Quartet in D Major, op. 76 no. 5, Hob.III.79
Janáček – Quartet no. 1, “Kreutzer Sonata”
Dvořák – Quartet no. 13 in G Major, op. 106
We were to have hosted the winner of the Borciani Prize on this concert, but the 11th String Quartet Competition, held last June in Reggio Emilia, did not award a first prize. Thus it is our pleasure to host a Slovak ensemble, the Mucha Quartet, that we have been keeping an eye on for some time, because it has established itself as a solid, lasting ensemble. Founded in 2003 at the Bratislava Conservatory, it has distinguished itself over 15 years of activity, winning prizes in important and highly selective competitions.
