Young people on stage, in the hall, for content and communication
The Quartetto as a gym
The languages of the Web dominate communication and are continually evolving; they demand new forms of expertise, adequate tools and constant updates. Communication about musical subjects, too, must take into account the various digital techniques that are ever more frequently adopted, employed, and demanded. In order to open up to new audiences and to reach the younger generations through the techniques and tools of digital communication, we have solicited and opened ourselves to collaborations and exchanges with the most significant institutions: Conservatorio G. Verdi, IED Istituto Europeo di Design, Fondazione Mondadori. Thus we offer young people the experience and authority of the Quartetto as a sort of gym, in exchange for the tools of the language.
Program notes for the 2017-18 season’s printed programs will be realised by the students of the Department of Musicology of Milan’s Conservatorio G. Verdi, coordinated by Pinuccia Carrer and Antonio Schilirò.
The IED and Silvia Lelli’s Master’s program in photography have provided our whole season with 15 rotating photographs, and we have provided them with a showcase on our Web site. The initiative will be repeated, and we will offer a scholarship as well. Other IED students are involved in creating the graphics for our printed programs and posters.
We have asked students in the Fondazione Mondadori’s Master’s program in publishing to concentrate on the histories and biographies of the season’s composers, in order to be able to look at them in new and stimulating ways and with a different linguistic approach. The results of this research will be available on our social media. We believe that these changes offer both an opportunity and a challenge.
Young audience members have for some time been the focus of the Quartetto’s attention. Tickets for the regular concert season are available at € 5 for people under the age of 26 and at € 1 for students at the Milan Conservatory. Subscriptions to the entire concert season are available to the under-26-year-olds at € 100 and include membership in the Association.
Open rehearsals, led by the musicians themselves, welcome students at every level.
